LR Sushi in Adelaide Street - you know, that place with the line - enjoys a strong following among the city's sushi devotees. We bowled up late on a Sunday afternoon to see what all the fuss was about.
The first thing I noticed was the low, low prices; the second was the size and plumpness of the rolls. It was all starting to make sense; LR Sushi gives you more noms for less monies. With discretionary spending going the way it is at the moment, this alone could easily explain most of LR Sushi's popularity. Most, but not all.
I grabbed a tuna roll and a chicken, cream cheese and peach roll - one of the more interesting items on offer. The chicken roll admittedly sounds odd, but works very well; the peach complements the chicken and cheese to create a whole that is somehow far more than the sum of its parts. The tuna roll contained sweet chilli, which I found pleasant though a tad overbearing.
Overall, excellent sushi at extremely attractive prices. Is it worth the wait? I reckon it is. Results below.
