Oshin (Fortitude Valley) [9.3]

Oshin, in the Brunswick Street Mall, is a Japanese restaurant that also happens to serve a range of sushi rolls to those early or lucky enough to arrive while stock is available. We were both early and lucky, so were able to snare some of their tuna salad rolls for review as they were opening their doors for the day's business.

Said tuna salad rolls set us back $3.30 each, and possessed an imposing heft, though were clearly assembled with care on the premises.

Taste was superb - Oshin really do know what they're doing in that department - the tuna filling delicately spiced and peppered almost to perfection. The rice, unfortunately, was not seasoned as enthusiastically as it could have been, which dimished the flavour and texture slightly. This doesn't stop them from posting a solid score though, and if you happen to be in the vincinity and even slightly hungry, it's exceptionally good sushi at a competitive price.
